Gokyo Cho la pass trekking
Gokyo Cho la pass trekking is one of the tough trekking at Everest region. This trekking route entertains us with many factors like natural things and cultural things. We can closely examine the life style of people living at this area .Mainly, people of Sherpa community used to live here. Their life styles, customs and cultures is surely a part that may attract many of us. The generous behavior of the local inhabitant will makes us fell relax as well. Gokyo Cho la pass Everest base camp trekking is illustrious not only for the culture but also from the natural beauty prospects. We can perceive many mountains like Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Nuptse (7855m), Pumori (7161m), Changtse (7550m) , Lingterin (6679m), Amadablam (6856m), Thamserku(6723m), Kantega (6685m), Kusum (6367)and other many more peak along with the beautiful Gokyo valley. Gokyo Ri (5350m), Cho La pass (5420m) and Kala Patthar (5545m) is the three main destination of many trekkers walking at this area. Gokyo Cho la pass trekking can be considered as one of the exploratory treks in the Himalayas of Nepal as it is enriched with many sky-touching Himalayas along with the beautiful passes.
After a splendid flight of around 35 minutes from Kathmandu, we can start our exhilarating trekking by crossing Dudh Koshi River. The way goes sometime up and sometime down to our destination. We need to pass several yak grazing meadows where we can see a fabulous view of people grazing yak on the high hills. We can explore Cho la pass, Everest, Kalapatthar, Khumbu ice fall views from Kalapatthar and can encounter with many Sherpa community there.
Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuvan international airport
When you arrive at TIA, a representative of Google treks visit Mustang will be there to welcome. After receiving the heartwarming welcome from the representative, we can proceed towards the Hotel. The night we will spend at the hotel discussing about the trekking and preparing for the trekking.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding
Early morning from Kathmandu, we make a magnificent flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. After landing we have much more time to explore the surrounding area. At evening we have to move downwards to Dudh Koshi River. After a short walk, we can reach to Phakding. It is at the height of 2652m.
Day 03: Phakding to Namche bazaar
It will take around 7 hours from Phakding to reach to Namche bazaar. Along the way we can view magnificent view of green forest of rhododendron along with the magnificent view of White Mountains. After passing several passes, we can reach at Namche bazaar. From here, we can see Everest, Nuptse and other surroundings mountains here.
Day 04: Rest day at Namche bazaar
After having a trekking of over 5-6 hours in the stony trails, it is better to stay the day at Namche Bazaar. This place is also very beautiful. We can roam many places here. The rest day will also helps us to adapt our self at the high altitude where presence of oxygen is generally low. This place is well facilitated with government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants and many things. We can also visit the Sherpa community there.
Day 05: Namche bazaar to Tengboche
After walking for around5-6 hours, we can reach at Tengboche .We can view a spectacular view all the way to Tengboche. We can see mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and a close view of other many mountains. We can see many musk deer, snow leopard, and other high altitude living animals. Finally we reach at Tengboche at the altitude of 3870m above sea level.
Day 06: Tengboche to Dingboche
We can see many monasteries at Tengboche with beautiful paintings and pictures pasted on it. Then we continue our way up to the hills. We can have a close view of Mt. Ama Dablam throughout the way. After walking around 6 hours we can reach at Dingboche .There we can see many fields enclosed by stone walls to protect the corns and grains from the snowy wind and animals . Mainly the grows Barley, Buck wheat and Potatoes. We stay the night at Dingbouche.
Day 07: Trekking from Dingboche to Lobuche
Early morning, we start the journey by climbing over to the Dughla through Khumbu valley. As we move up we can see mountains all around us. As we move up, we can see the panoramic view of Mt. Pumori (7138m).The trail begins to descend and bend and become narrower along with the way. After crossing the wooden bridge, we ascend to Dughla. We stay the night at Dughla at the height of 4600m. After walking for 2-3 hours we can reach to Lobuche from Dughla. We can see many mountains all the way to the Lobuche. Lobuche is situating at the height of 4940m. As we move up with the altitude some of our fellow travelers may fell altitude sickness. We may stay the night at Lobuche.
Day 08: Lobuche to Gorakshep
We have to walk around 8-9 hours to reach to Everest base camp. We may see Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, and Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, and other several mountain. After walking for several hours, we can reach to Gorak shep, we will observe snow- capped mountains around us including the top of the world.
Day 09: Lobuche to Dzongla
Early morning we make our trek to Kala Patthar situating at the height of 5545m,from where we can see fantastic view of sunrise. We should continue our way onto the high hills. After a short encounter with the nature we can reach to Dzongla at the altitude of 4850m.
Day 10: Dzongla via Chola pass to Thagnak
We have to walk around 6to 7 hours today. So we have to begin the trekking early in the morning. We can observe the magnificent view of beautiful mountains from top of the land. We have to go through the steep land so precaution should be taken. Continuing our journey to downhill, we can finally reach at Thagnak.
Day 11; Thagnak to Gokyo Lake
We should continue our journey to Gokyo Lake early in the morning. We have to trek around 3to 4 hours. We can see many lakes there .The Gokyo Lake is situated at the height of 4720meters. We can spend the night over there.
Day 12: Rest day
We can enjoy the whole day by exploring the natural and cultural beauty of the region. We have much more time to visit the Gokyo Lake. Furthermore, having an encounter with the local people will be equally enthusiastic one. The day is supposed to be a rest day but we also can have a short trek over the valley.
Day 13: Gokyo through Renjo la pass
We have to start the trekking of today early in the morning as we have to walk around 8 hours. The trail heads us towards uphill. From the height, we can see a magnificent view of Gokyo Lake. After continuing the way for several hours, we can reach at Renjo la pass situating at the height of 4650m.
Day 14: Lungten to Thame
To get to Thame from Lung den, it will take us around 5 hours on foot. Our way today goes through sideways of Bhote Koshi River. We should continue our journey through the small settlement to reach at Marlung. From Marlung, the way descends through the village of Taranga to reach Thame.
Day 15: Thame to Monjo
From the height of 4289m, we should descend our way to cross the Bhote Koshi river along the suspension bridges. We can see many rock paintings on the way. The route continues through the valley to the Namche bazaar. After having lunch at Namche, we should proceed towards Monjo. After walking for several hours through the forest of rhododendron, pine, etc we can reach to Monjo at the altitude of 2800m.
Day 16: Monjo to Lukla
We have to walk around 4to5 hours to reach to Lukla from Monjo. On the way we can see beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine. Our trekking ends up with the arrival with Lukla at the height of 2827m from where we can board to a plane to fly over to Kathmandu.
Day 17: Lukla to Kathmandu and final departure
It will take only few minutes for us to fly back to Kathmandu. During the flight, we can view to Kathmandu so we can spend the day visiting the cultural heritages of Kathmandu. The final departure will be at Tribhuvan international airport.
