Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. The trekking route over to the Himalayas has opened since 1988 only. The trekking route is a bit rural and difficult trekking route as compared to other trekking routes of Nepal. It stands with a height of 8586m above sea level. Located at the far eastern corner of Nepal bordering Sikkim, it is considered as one of the beautiful massifs in the world. The name Kanchenjunga actually means five treasures of the great snow which is in orientation to the five summits that make up Kanchenjunga. The trekking route is less crowded. We can see beautiful forest along with streams and glaciers throughout the trekking route. We can see the presence of many wild animals like Himalayan beer, barking deer, panda and snow leopard.
The trekking route goes through the forest of birch, bamboo, and rhododendron. Mainly people of Limbu and Rai community used to live here. We can see the beautiful and magnificent life style and the customs of Limbu and Rai community. We can also interact with them about their culture and tradition and their beliefs. We can see the panoramic view of Kanchenjunga and Makalu Mountain during our trek. The trekking route to Kanchenjunga is renamed as Paradise for the nature and adventure lovers. The trekking to this route for any trekkers will be a life time achievement of adventure and entertainment. The exhilarating beauty of the nature is the main reason for the trekking to this area but the hospitable and loyal behavior of the local people will add more enthusiasm to the journey.
Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu
The flight of yours will be landed at the international airport of the Nepal at TIA. A representative of Google treks visit Mustang, will b there to receive or welcome you. He will lead you towards the best hotel of Kathmandu. The night will be at the hotel in Kathmandu having the fine dinner and a small discussion about the trekking to Manaslu Tsum valley trekking.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Biratnagar
From Kathmandu, we will catch a flight to fly over to Biratnagar. A short flight will take us to tour destination. We will spend the evening by visiting the market area at Biratnagar. We will stay the night at Biratnagar.
Day 03: Biratnagar to Suketar
From Biratnagar, we will catch a flight to go at Suketar. We will spend the night at one of the lodges at Suketar. The Suketar is at the altitude of 2420m above sea level. We can view a fantastic view during the flight from Biratnagar to Suketar.
Day 04: Suketar to Mitlung
The course of trekking actually starts from Suketar as we can’t get any vehicle from here. We have to trek down to Mitlung to the height for 921m from 2420m. After walking through the fertile valley through the beautiful pasture lands and small villages we have to cross the Hangdewa River and Tamor River. we will trek for 4 to 5 hours to take rest at Mitlung
Day 05: Mitlung to Chirwa
The trail goes to Chirwa through Sinuwa village. We have to follow the main trail until we reach at Tawa. After crossing the suspension bridge at Thiwa, we can reach at a beautiful Limbu village named as Chirwa. The Chirwa is at the altitude of 1270m above sea level.
Day 06: Chirwa to Sukathum
The route from Chirwa goes to Sukathum from cardamom fields and dense forest. We have to trek for about 5 to 6 hours to fulfill our desire of the day. We have to move both uphill and downhill to reach at Sukathum at the altitude of 1270m. We will stay the night at Sukathum.
Day 07: Sukathum to Amjilosa
The route from Sukathum to Amjilosa is a bit challenging. After crossing the suspension bridge, we have to move across the dense forest following the steep route sometime up and sometime down. We will be at Amjilosa after walking for 6 to 7 hours. The Amjilosa is situated at the height of 2308m.
Day 08: Amjilosa to Gyabla
From Amjilosa, we move towards Gyabla following the trail along the river bank and dense forest. We can enjoy the panoramic beauty of the way of waterfalls and several bridges. After walking for about 6 to 7 hours, we can reach at Gyabla, a Tibetan settlement. Gyabla is 2730m above sea level.
Day 09: Gyabla to Ghunsa
The trail descends down to the river before reaching Phale. After walking for about 5 to 6 hours, we can reach at Ghunsa. The Ghunsa is a beautiful village of Sherpa people. It is located at the height of 3595m above sea level. We spend the night at Ghunsa. This place is well known for hydroelectricity project.
Day 10: Ghunsa to Kambachen
From Ghunsa, we trek towards the Kambachen following the river bank viewing the magnificent scenery of the mountain. We have to pass through the beautiful meadows. After crossing the landscapes, we can see the picture of Mt. Jannu. After walking for a while, we can reach at Kambachen at the height of 4050m.
Day 11: Acclimatization day at Kambachen
We will spend a day at Kambachen. It will help us for the better journey ahead. We can explore the Narphu khola during the day. The night will be obviously at Kambachen.
Day 12: Kambachen to Lhonak
The trekking route of today is quiet difficult today so we have to move early as possible. We have to pass the high rocks and steep hills and many waterfalls. After walking for a hour we can reach at Ram tang monastery. Continuing the path will lead us towards Lhonak. The Lhonak is situated at the height of 4780m.
Day 13: Trek to Kanchenjunga base camp
From Lhonak, we move towards the north base camp of Kanchenjunga. We have to pass several glaciers. The trekkers should be careful while trekking through this area. We will stay the night at Kanchenjunga north base camp. After climbing a little bit higher, we can see the spectacular view of Jannu Himal, Kanchenjunga Himal and Chang Himal.
Day 14: Back to Kambachen
After spending a day at Kambachen, we have to move downwards to the Kambachen. The descending trail will be comparatively easier than that of the uphill. We can walk more distance, so we have to stay the night at Kambachen at the height of 11792 ft. the returning trail is about 3 to 4 hours.
Day 15: Kambachen to Ghunsa
From Kambachen, we will return towards the Ghunsa. We will be encouraged by the increasing distance with the mountains as we are getting down to the Ghunsa. We can enjoy the view of beautiful green forest with its white background of mountains.
Day 16: Ghunsa to Sele le
The trail from Ghunsa to Sele le is towards up hill. The Sele le is situated at the height of 4290m above sea level. We have to walk for about 6 to 7 hours to complete our objective of the day. We have to spend the night at Sele le.
Day 17: Sele le to Cheram
After having a little uphill trek, we can see the magnificent picture of mountains like Jannu and Makalu. We have to pass several passes along with the streams, so the trekking will be quiet long as we have to walk for about 6 to 7 hours. We will spend the night at Cheram.
Day 18: Cheram to Tortong
From Cheram, we trek down to Tortong to the height of 2995m above sea level. We can enjoy the natural view of mountains along with green forest at Tortong. The trekking route is about 5 to 6 hours long. We will spend the night at Tortong.
Day 19: Tortong to Yamphudin
We have to pass through Lasiya Bhanjyang while moving down from Tortong to Yamphudin. We have to walk until we reach at a village of Yamphudin. This is a Sherpa village situating at the altitude of 2080m. the route is about 6 to 7 hours long.
Day 20: Yamphudin to Yang pang
We need to trek for about 6 to 7 hours to reach to Yang pang from Yamphudin. We have to cross the bridge at Samekhan and have to follow the Kabeli Khola. We have to cross a cardamom forest and few villages of the way to reach to Yangpang. We will be glad to spend the night at Yangpang.
Day 21: Yangpang to Taplejung
From Yangpang, we will move towards Taplejung. We have enough time to view and to enjoy the natural beauty presented here. We can see much settlement of people living here. The trail will also be much easier to Taplejung. We will spend a night at Taplejung.
Day 22: Taplejung to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
Early morning, after having the breakfast, we need to move towards the airport of Taplejung. We can catch the flight to Nepalgunj. We will have our lunch at Nepalgunj. After having the lunch, we will fly over to Kathmandu. The night will be enjoyable as a success party may be held by Google treks visit Mustang.
Day 23: Farewell friends
The morning will be refreshing at Kathmandu, as we have enough time for our departure. We have to move towards the airport after having the breakfast (or lunch). A representative of Google treks visit Mustang will be presented there to help us for any inconvenience. We wish to have a better and safe journey ahead.
