Lower Dolpo Trekking
The lower Dolpo is one of the illustrious trekking areas of Nepal. The trail goes through three high passes such as Kagmara pass (5115m), Numa la pass (5159m) and Baga la pass (5190m). The route goes through the renowned Shey Phoksundo Lake. We can visit the Shey Phoksundo national park during our trekking. The Dolpo trekking route is situated in the karnali region and is a restricted area where we need government permission to enter. But Google trek visit Mustang will arrange the procedures shortly.
Dolpo trekking area is very rural part and very dry in the same way, so we can see variation on landscapes as well as vegetation during our trek. The trek starts from Kathmandu from where we will catch a flight over to Nepalgunj. Thereafter, we can move towards the Juphal, Tarakot, Tarap Khola, Dho, and through the many beautiful region of the area. The trekking route was opened since 1982. The crowd of trekkers is increasing day by day as this has become a popular trekking route of western Nepal. Due to its closeness with Tibet, many people used to follow the Tibetan culture here. There exist a trade of salt, cotton, barley and rice between this area and Tibet. These products are traded through Yaks and by man himself. Lower Dolpo trekking route is very famous for the beautiful monasteries, Tibetan plateau and traditional culture along with the beautiful and smiling faces of the local people flavored with their hospitality and loyalty.
Day01: Arrive to Kathmandu
After catching the flight from your local airport, you will be landed at Tribhuvan international airport. You will be warmly welcomed by the representative of Google trek visit Mustang. She/he will guide you towards the hotel room at Kathmandu. The night we will spend at Kathmandu having delicious dinner and discussing about the trek further to upper Dolpa.
Day02: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
From Kathmandu, we will catch the early flight to Nepalgunj. It will take few minutes for us to reach there. We can spend the night at Nepalgunj visiting the local market at rickshaw. We can visit many Hindu temples at Nepalgunj. The Nepalgunj is so hot as we may experience a temperature of about 40 degree Celsius.
Day03: Fly from Nepalgunj to Juphal and trek to Dunai
From Nepalgunj, we will catch the early flight to Jhuphal. It will take about 45 minutes for us to reach at Jhuphal. The Jhuphal is at the altitude of 2320m. After getting off the plane, we will trek towards Dunai where we have to establish a camp at the height of 2850m. We have to trek for about 2 to 3 hours.
Day04: Dunai to Tarakot
Early morning, we will start our trek following the bank of the Bheri River. We can see many suspension bridges and villages throughout the way. The trekking route is about 5 to 6 hours long. The Tarakot is a old fortress made by the people. The Tarakot is situated at the south of the Bheri River at the height of 2543m.
Day05: Tarakot to Lahini
From Tarakot, we continue our trek following the Tarp Chu River. The path goes along to the terraces farm and beautiful villages. After walking for few uphill and downhill for about 6 to 7 hours we will reach at the height of 3160m.
Day06: Trek to Nawarpani
After having the breakfast at Lahini, we should continue our way through the gorge of Tarap River. The trekking through this place is exciting as we may explore many things. We need to walk for 5 to 6 hours to reach at our goal. Nawarpani is located t the height of 3545m above sea level.
Day07: Nawarpani to Do Tarap
We have to move early in the morning following the Tarap Chu khola and Lang khola. We have to walk through the forest of juniper, wild rose and other vegetation. We have to trek through the long trail from Nawarpani to Do Tarap. We can visit the Magar community living here. The Do Tarap is situated at the altitude of 4090m.
Day08: Trek to Numa La base camp
We can spend a day to adapt ourselves with the high altitude at Do Tarap. But as Google trek visit Mustang suggests, we have to move towards the Numla base camp following the plain valley. After a few hours trekking, we will reach at Tokyu. We have to walk continuously for 6 to 7 hours to reach to Numa la base camp.
Day09: Cross Numa la pass and camp to Pelung tang
The trail is a bit tougher here. We have to walk for 6 to 7 hours through the rough and steep surface. We have to cross the Numa la pass at 5190m. From the height, we should be move downwards to the Pelung tang and will camp for the night.
Day10: Cross Baga La and camp at Dajok Tang
After having the breakfast, we will move towards the top of the Baga La at the height of 5070m which offers a panoramic view of surroundings. After watching the magnificent scene from the top,we have to descend downwards to the Dajok Tang and have to camp for the night at the height of 5070m.
Day11: Trek to Ringmo
We need to trek through the pine forest today. From the height of 5070m we have to move down wards to 3600m, so with altitude we can see greater presence of vegetation and settlements. We have to trek for about 3 to 4 hours to reach at Ringmo.
Day12: Rest day at Ring mo and hike to Phoksundo Lake
We will spend a day at Ringmo. We can use the day for the exploration of Phoksundo lake. We can see Yak caravans carrying the goods from Tibet to Ringmo. We can visit the nearer monastery and stupas of Buddhists. We will stay the night at camp.
Day13: Trek to Shyanta
After spending a marvelous day at Ringmo, we will head towards down to Chhepka. We can see many medicinal herbs at this place. We have to cross a village before reaching to Shyanta. The trekking route is about 5 to 6 hours long. At Shyanta, we are at the height of 2520m.
Day14: Shyanta to Jhuphal
We have to return to Jhuphal from Shyanta. We have to cross the forest on the way. We can see the most panoramic view of mountains along with green forest during our trek to Jhuphal. We will stay the night at Jhuphal.
Day15: Jhuphal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
We will take the early flight from Jhuphal to Nepalgunj. It will takes only few hours for us to reach at our destination Kathmandu. We can enjoy the dazzling view of mountains and forest from the flight. A representative of Himalayan views trekking Nepal, warmly receive yopu at the airport at Kathmandu. Overnight at Kathmandu
Day16: Final departure
The morning will be at Kathmandu. We will receive a fine and refreshing breakfast at Kathmandu. The agent will arrange the process of departure and will be there for the help for any inconvenience. The Google trek visit Mustang will arrange a farewell program for the success of Lower Dolpa trekking.
