Narphu Valley Trekking
Nar Phu valley trek is the exotic trekking trail of the Annapurna region in the central northern part of Nepal. This trekking region was opened for trekking purpose in 2003 for foreign trekkers. This remote Nar Phu valley is inhabited by the Nepalese Tibetans. Nar Phu valley trek provides the intact medieval Tibetan culture and lifestyle of the Bhotes, close up vistas of the Himalayas, beautiful scenery etc. In this trek you enjoy the excellent view of the Annapurna (8091m), Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, Lamjung Himal, and Tilicho Peak etc. The trekking to the hidden Nar Phu valley which offers the Tibet like flavor gives you the life time memory. This trek is the chance to explore the Annapurna region and its hidden Nar Phu Valley in the Tibetan border. In this trek you visit the remote ethnic villages of Gurung, Magar, Manangi, Bhotes etc, and get insight into their lifestyle with their unique culture and hospitality. This trek provides the real adventurous experience as in this trek you cross the Challenging high passes like Masokanto La pass (5099m), Tilicho Pass (5230m) and the Kangla pass (5200m).
The restricted Nar Phu valley trek begins from Besisahar following the Annapurna circuit trekking trail after 7/8 hours scenic drive from Kathmandu through the Prithivi Highway. Then you follow Marsyangdi River valley with the views of the Manaslu Himal in the east, the 8th highest mountain of the world. In this trek you pass through the remote ethnic villages, beautiful forest of rhododendron, sub tropical forest to Alpine zone, yak grazing meadows rugged path to Tibetan villages of Nar and Phu with the views of the river valleys and the mountain vistas. This trekking trail is controlled trekking trail and to trek in this trail you need special permit from the government of Nepal. While trekking you visit the Gurung, Magar, Thakali villages where you can explore their culture, religion etc. The best season to venture in the remote Nar Phu valley trek are autumn and spring when the weather is clear and you can have the clear view of the mountains as well as the natural scenery.
Day to day Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Google treks visit Mustang will warmly and heartily receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). After the completion of our legal and custom formalities, we can forward to Google treks visit Mustang along with our luggage. There, either we can take rest or can have a short view of Kathmandu, that depends on your own interest and your condition. Google treks visit Mustang will organize a reception dinner at tremendously beautiful and well facilitated restaurant enjoying Nepalese culture and obviously fine meal.
Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing and Trek Preparation
We can have a shot and sweet sight view along to Kathmandu enriched with the natural and cultural heritages here like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath temple, Buddha and many more. At the noon, the pre-trip discussion is held where we can ask if any queries regarding the trip and then coming adventure.
Day 03: Drive to Besisahar
Besisahar is at a distance of 178 km situating to the west direction of it. If we take the local bus, it only takes 7 hours time to get there. It is the headquarters of Lamjung district. This place is well equipped and well facilitated; altogether there are 15 hotels here. In the south of this, Marsyangdi River flows whereas the northern portion is covered by white snow capped mountains. There is no problem of lodging and fooding here. So the night will be at Besisahar.
Day 04: Besisahar to Bahundanda
From Besisahar, we start the journey of the next day. We headed towards Khudi (2592ft). We can reach there within the time margin of about 1.5 hours. Bhulbhule is the next spot after Khudi River after a journey of about 1 hour. Along with the Marsyangdi River we move forward to Ngadi and ultimately to Bahundanda. It will take about1.4 hours for us to reach there. The view of rice terraces and the valley of Marsyangdi looks great from here. We spend our overnight here.
Day05: Bahundanda to Chamje
Situating at the height of 1310m, Bahundanda views a fantastic looks. We forwarded our self to the Ghermu and to Syange after trekking for several hours. We can see a fabulous view at Syange all about the waterfalls and springs. Jagat is the next stop here where one can have good lunch. Jagat to Chamje is about at the distance of 1 hour. There is a good facility of hotels and lodges here. We stay the night at Chamje.
Day 06: Chamje to Dharapani
After crossing the bridges, we can climb over to the Tal village situating at the height of 1700m. The presence of beautiful and breathtaking waterfalls is a key part of attraction to many visitors. We may cross several bridges between Tal and Dharapani. It may take around 4 hours for us to reach at our aim. Overnight at Dharapani situating with a altitude of 1900m.
Day 07: Dharapani to Koto
Next morning with breakfast we have to move onward to Bagarchap situating around 45 minutes away from the Dharapani. We can view several mountains like Manasalu (8163m), Annapurna II (7939m) and Lamjung Himal (6932m) and others, on the way to Koto. A good provision of hotels inspired us to stay the night at Koto.
Day 08: Koto to Dharmasala
After reaching to Kota, we should now leave the main trekking route for our convenience. We have to cross the Marsyangdi River and follow to the Narphu Valley along the way to the pine forest. We may see many beautiful waterfalls and springs and several caves on the way. We have to walk until we reach to Dharmasala. Since, there are no provisions of hotels and lodges; we have to adjust our self at camp.
Day 09: Dharmasala to Kayang
It will take around 6 to 7 hours for us to reach at our next goal. We have to continuously climb to hills here. We can found several settlements like Junam (3550m) and Chako. We may see several pasture land and meadows while walking through the way. Finally, we can reach to Kayang at the height of 3740m.
Day 10: Kayang to Phu Gaon
From Khayang, we have to descend steeply to the river and walk through the bank of it to reach at our next objective. We have to climb steeply to the Phu gates from where we can get beautiful glances of Phu village. It will take about 6 hours for us to reach at Phu gaon from Kayang. The Phu gaon is located at a height of 4050m.
Day 11: Phu gaon to Junam
Junam is the beautiful pasture which is all covered by snow during the winter season .Human used to live there only at summer. The Junam village is situated at the altitude of 3550m. It will be fun indeed to stay here overnight interacting with the local people about their traditions, customs, lifestyle and other interesting things.
Day 12: Junam to Nar gaon
We have to walk for several hours to reach to the nearer gorge which carries the beautiful scenario of the trails. We may trek around 6 hours to reach to the Nar Gate enjoying the scene of forests and gorges. The local inhabitant of here is Bhotia. They have an interesting lifestyle and traditions. No arrangement of lodges and hotels obliged us to stay at camp overnight.
Day 13: Nar gaon to Ngawal to kangla pass
It will take a time of about 7 hours to reach our objective. To reach at the destination, we have to climb over to the hill to reach to the kangla pass. Then we can gradually step down to the Ngawal. It is a beautiful place with bhotia people residing there. We can see enormous flags of their own community here. The Ngawal village lies at the height of 3655m. We have to spend the night at camp.
Day 14: Ngawal to Manang
Ngawal to downhill will leads us towards Manang. It is a beautiful valley surrounded by the flags of Bhotia and Gurungs. The people here are also engaged in the socio-economic activities like animal husbandry, tourism industry, local hotels and restaurants and several other activities. Manang lies at the height of 3540m. We may stay the night at Manang.
Day 15: Manang to Tilicho base camp
The next day, we have to walk a gradual path downwards along the Jharsing Khola to reach at Khangsar. It is a village of Gurung. There is a landslide area with a rock falling and narrow trail. So, the journey here is quiet risky. The Tilicho base camp is situated at the height of 4190m. We can stay the night at nearest hotel there.
Day 16: Tilicho Base Camp to Mesokunda Pass
It will take about 9 to10 hours for us to reach at Mesokunda pass from Tilicho base camp. We can view a fantastic view of Annapurna Himalayan ranges, Tukuche peak, Dhaulagiri (8167m) from here the Mesokunda pass lies at the altitude of 5330m. We can stay the overnight at the camp.
Day 17: Mesokunda to Jomsom
we have to walk the downhill to the rough trail and after walking several hours, we can reach to the pine forests. Mainly Thakali people lived here. There are abundant number of hotels and restaurants here. The Jomsom lies at the height of 2710m.
Day 18: Jomsom to Pokhara
Early morning with the sun, we headed towards Pokhara. As it will be our best choice because of the windy valley. We can view a nice scene of Annapurna, Ghorepani, Sarankot, and other beautiful places around the region if we take a twin otter flight. There is no problem of staying at Pokhara.
Day 19 Pokhara to Kathmandu
From Pokhara we can easily boarded to Kathmandu as it is only 204 km away. The road trip will be quiet interesting here. If we wish to have a flight then you can reach to the Kathmandu within an hour.
Day 20: Final Departure
